Author School Visits
Author School Visits

Presentations for my author visits are designed to follow the Virginia SOLs (Standards of Learning.) Author visits for elementary schools are a bit different than those for middle schools, so–of course–I’m happy to tool presentations to meet the curricular needs of each school. See testimonials below, as well as a downloadable brochure.

Testimonials:
Kim, your presentation was a BIG hit with the children at King and Queen Elementary! They were thrilled to meet a “real” author. I heard the 4th graders chattering for days afterwards about the reader’s theater performance and the “Evil Editor” pictures! Thanks again,
Mary Acree, Title One Reading Specialist
King and Queen Elementary School, Mattaponi, Virginia
Our students enjoyed Kim’s presentation. She spoke to the different age levels at their level. She encouraged participation and elicited questions from them.
Cathy Louk & Linda Cook
Thoroughgood Elementary School, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Even our reluctant readers and writers were mesmerized by Kim’s engaging presentations. She skillfully combined reader’s theater, humor and song to deliver her message about the writing process. Her exuberant personality, as well as her obvious passion for writing, served as an inspiration for our students and staff.
Kim Kroes, reading specialist
Thompson Elementary, Marshall, Virginia
Kim’s genuine affection for the students is obvious. She puts a great deal of thought into preparation and is flexible and responsive when adjustments need to be made.
Elizabeth (Libby) Edwards,
Bass-Ho0ver Elementary, Stephens City, Virginia

Lisa Ruffieux, assistant principal
Coventry Elementary School, Yorktown, Virginia
Kim Norman will hold the audience’s attention no matter what the age. She presented with enthusiasm, humor and used a wide variety of learning styles to fit every child’s needs. Our students were thrilled to participate in reader’s theater directed by Kim and to sing along with her when she sand her original song, “The Storytime Boogie.”
Carolyn Law, librarian,
Claude Thompson Elementary, Marshall, Virginia
This was an entertaining performance that showed the importance of reading and writing. It also showed that if first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
Michelle Sowerby, library media specialist
Robertson Elementary, Suffolk, VA
Kim Norman inspired our elementary students with information about authors and the writing process. Her interactive presentation, including students from the audience, made a positive impression with our faculty and parents.
Cornelia Turrittin, Title 1 Reading Specialist
Whythe Elementary, Hampton, VA

Kim was just what we needed for our students. She spoke as an author, shared her books, discussed how she got ideas and involved them in a Readers’ Theatre.
Great job!
Frances Robb, elementary English lead teacher
Suffolk Public Schools
Kim was funny, engaging and so real. The children and staff, as well as parents, were intrigued with her style and knowledge of the writing process.
Marypat Warter, principal
Claude Thompson Elementary, Marshall, Virginia
